Brighton & Hove Albion: Away Fans Forum
- Fans are made up of different groups, with different expectations or needs
- Try as much as you can to go to where the fans are, and don’t always expect them to come to you
Effective Fan Engagement means building relationships with different groups, not just treating fans as all one type.
Serving a distinct group who often need to be better valued – as the Football Supporters Association’s (FSA) ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ campaign showed – is a vital part of that, and away fans are one of the most dedicated groups at any club.
Brighton and Hove Albion have an away fans forum every season. Entry is by ticket only, free of charge to those fans on the club database, and is held at a venue near on the day of an away fixture.
Portsmouth club officials also formally meet exile groups on away trips.
